Christmas Gives Birth to Mandurah’s 1st Calf of 2018!

What a way to end our Christmas Lights Cruise season with one of our favourite dolphins Christmas giving birth to a calf! First sighted by Mandurah Cruises tour guide and dolphin expert Martin on 6th January, it was believed to be only a day or 2 old. Resident town dolphin Christmas has joined us for most cruises since to show off her newborn calf which appears to be happy and healthy. This is the first newborn for the year in Mandurah and we have numerous other dolphins in the region also expecting. It has been exciting to see Christmas a mum again after her first calf in 2016, named Easter, passed away in November 2016.

Mandurah Cruises held a naming competition for the youngster through Facebook. Our crew then selected their favourite name from all entries received and the fitting name was ‘Spirit’.

Stay tuned for more photos and videos of Spirit and Christmas on our Facebook and Insgragram page.
